According to the Association of Indonesian Motorcycle Producers or Asosiasi Sepeda Motor Indonesia (AISI), members of the Association have exported 174,123 units of motorcycles within the past 4 months. The export figure is increasing by 41.1% if compared to the same period of 2017 when the number was only 123,403 units.
Based on data from the Association, the largest export contribution came from “Yamaha” with 55% or 96,900 units of the total export. It is followed by “Honda” with 28% or 49,546 units of the total export. Next, there is “Suzuki” with 7.22% (12,574 units), “TVS” with 6.7% (11,807 units), and “Kawasaki” with 1.8% (3,296 units).
Total export from these five brands contributed 7.9% into the total national market in the period of January-April 2018. Although not significant, the export contribution shows a prove that motorcycle products from Indonesia have met the international standard and can meet the demand in the global market.
