The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is determined to ensure that there will be no changes in electricity fares up until the end of 2019. Even though USD exchange rate and oil prices of which are the two main formulas that determine that the tariff, has undergone a change. To ease the burden carried by PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero)(PLN) in producing electricity, they are willing to optimize the absorption of primary energy resources originating from overseas.
In 2019, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will set an electrification target ratio of which is 99.9 percent, comparing with the target in 2018 of which is 97.5%. Eventually, the equity of electrification ratio will be centralized to the areas that are at left behind, at front and rural regions.
If we were to look at its achievements, it has been written that up until the end of June 2018, electrification ratio has reached the value of 97.13%. Now, the electrification ratio from the Government himself by the end of 2018 was at 97.5% with the composition of PLN of 94.5%, whilst Non-PLN is at 2.36% and LTSHE being 0.12%. Electricity consumption is recorded at 1,034 kWh per capita or has increased compared to the last four years, of which were; 2017 (1,012 kWh/capita), 2016 (956 kWh/capita), 2015 (918 kWh/capita) and 2014 (878 kWh/capita).
During the period of 2017-2018, Indonesia has reached its electricity consumption value of above 1,000 kWh per capita for the very first time. The increase has indicated a positive sign towards national economic growth. There has not been any official reports regarding electricity consumption in 2018. However, the government has set a target that by the end of 2018, community electricity consumption will increase up to 1,129 kWh per capita.
Other than that, considering its energy source, energy in the generating sector is dominated by coal by 58.64%, followed by gas with 22.48% and Renewable Energy at 12.71%. As for the realization of the share of BBM in the powerplant mix, is approximately 6.18% or reaching 1.77 million kiloliter.
Based on these given facts, PT. Visi Globalindo Data Utama has predicted that by early 2019, they will experience growth of 4.91%. The value is proven to be greater than what it was in the same period of 2018, which was 3.5%. This prediction was based on the growth rate data of electricity in the previous years.
