Regarding their performance in QI/2018, PT. Visi Globalindo Data Utama predicts that the electronics and the optical sector will only grow by 2.58% in the second quarter of 2018. Although the percentage is 0.35% higher than in the first quarter of 2018, it actually a decrease if compared to the same period of 2017 that reached 7.02%.
If compared to the first quarter of 2017, based on data from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), the production of computer, electronic goods and optical products in QI/2018 was decreasing by 13.36% (YoY) –the lowest growth if compared to the other industries.
The decreasing production is because the Indonesian electronic market is now mainly dominated by imported products, including low-quality products. To take advantages from the import facility, in fact, some industrial players have already switched to become traders. These all happen because the government does not have the vision to support the development of the industry appropriately.
