PT. Visi Globalindo Data Utama predicts that in QII/2018 the national fishery sector will increase to 6.55%, or 0.16% higher if compared to the same period of 2017.
Trade balance from the fishery sector in the first quarter of 2018 booked a surplus of USD 1 billion. According to the Minister of Marine and Fishery, the surplus is resulting from the attentiveness of the government to increase the prosperity of Indonesian fishermen.
As quoted from the Ministry of Marine and Fishery (KKP), the total export value of fishery products from Indonesia in the period of January-March 2018 recorded USD 1.15 billion, coming from the export of dead fishery products (279,818 tons) and life fishery products (1.05 billion fishes). Mostly, the export of dead fishery products is in the form of shrimps, squids, and tuna. Meanwhile, the export of life fish products includes varieties of young milkfishes, ornamental fishes, and freshwater ornamental fishes. In another side, the total import value of fishery products recorded USD 150 million. Import volume of dead fishery products during the period recorded 98,992 tons, while the import of life fish products totaled 167,181 fishes. The situation is predicted to continue until this QII/2018.
