INDONESIA-TAIWAN IMPORT DEVELOPMENT IN 2022
The need for national imported commodities increased in 2021. This can be seen from the realization of imports of consumer goods which reached USD 20,182.8 million or higher when compared to the previous year, which was worth USD 14,656.0 million.
The same thing also happened to imports of raw/auxiliary materials reaching USD 147,380.2 million and capital goods reaching USD 28,627.0 million, each of which was higher in value when compared to 2020. The consumer goods category increased by USD 5,526.8 million (37.71%), followed by raw/auxiliary materials USD 44,170,3 million (42.80%), and capital goods USD 4,924.1 million (20.77%).
Of the large contribution, the overall value of Indonesia’s imports during 2021 is still dominated by imports of raw/auxiliary materials (75.12%), followed by capital goods (14.59%) and consumer goods (10.29%).
Meanwhile, at the beginning of 2022, the realization of imports of consumer goods reached USD 1,579.1 million during January 2022 or higher than the same month the previous year, which was USD 1,432,2 million. The same thing also happened to imports of raw/auxiliary materials of USD 13,830.7 million and capital goods of USD 2,801.3 million, each of which was higher than January 2021. In view of its development, the import value of all categories of goods used during January 2022 increased. The consumer goods category increased by USD 146.9 million (10.26%), followed by raw/auxiliary materials USD 3,906.6 million (39.36%), and capital goods USD 827.7 million (41.94%). Of the large contribution, the overall value of Indonesia’s imports during January 2022 was still dominated by imports of raw/auxiliary materials (75.95%), followed by capital goods (15.38%) and consumer goods (8.67%).
IMPORT FROM TAIWAN AS MAIN PRINCIPAL COUNTRY
The growth in the value of imports from Taiwan is quite constant every year and begins to show an increase in 2021. In 2021, imports of products from Taiwan have increased by 17.89% or to USD 4,350 million from the previous year of USD 3,572 million.
Entering the beginning of 2022, Taiwan is ranked 9th as the main principal country that fulfills Indonesia’s import needs. Taiwan’s contribution is 2.66% of the total import needs in Indonesia. The total import value recorded reached USD 484 million, an increase of 39.76% when compared to January 2021.
Some of the imported products from Taiwan include Telecommunication Equipment and Its Parts (USD 75,347,980), Thermionic Tubes, Cold Cathodes, Photo Cats (USD 73,853,704), Embroidered Or Knitted Materials (USD 21,294,982), Woven Fabrics from Artificial Fiber (USD 21,076,599), and Other Plastic Materials, In Preliminary Form (USD 15,898,109). In addition to the above products, Indonesia also imports other products with an import value of up to (USD 276,513,736).
