THE DEVELOPMENT OF DEBT PAYMENT OBLIGATION POSTPONEMENT (PKPU) CASE AT THE EARLY QUARTER OF 2022
Along with the recovery of economic conditions in Indonesia, there has been a decrease in the number of cases of Debt Payment Obligations Postponement (PKPU) in Indonesia. Based on data from the District Court – Commercial Court, there was a decrease in the number of 43.35% from the total cases for the same period in 2021.
Based on the Case Search System (SIPP) updated in early 2022, there were 132 registered cases with details of 109 cases of Bankruptcy and Suspension of Obligations for Payment of Debt and 23 cases of Petition for Declaration of Bankruptcy.
DEVELOPMENT IN Q1/2022
Based on the development of PKPU cases in Q1/2022, the growth in the number of cases from January to December is quite stagnant, in the range of 9-11 cases per month. In addition, the decrease in the number of cases that occurred indicates an increase in economic stability in the business world during the Covid-19 pandemic when compared to the same period in 2021.
WHICH INDUSTRY WAS THE MOST INVOLVED IN THE Q1/2022 PKPU CASE?
After processing and analyzing the data, most of the subjects involved in the case came from the Real Estate Activities sector (10.625% of the total subjects involved), Manufacturing (8.750%), Wholesale and Retail Trade (7.50%), Construction (6.870%), and Financial and Insurance Activities (6.870%). These sectors are the business sectors with the largest possibility of PKPU cases compared to other business sectors.
